The Joy of Electric Bike

The question that usually lingers in one's head is, "Why electric?"

Like everything else or in physics, people generally do not like changes, though they are always on the lookout for something new. Yes, riding an EV bike does change the lifestyle of a rider, but I would say it has more positive points in comparison to the traditional ICE bikes.

The number one reason is "convenience.".

After adopting an EV dirt bike, I found myself glued to it rather quickly due to the following factors:

  1. I do not need to warm up my bike every now and then when not in use, lest I worry it won't start when needed. With electric, just charge the night before and ride the next day. Turn it on and go.

  2. I do not need to bring my bike to the mechanic shop for servicing (oil or filter change, spark plug, etc.). That saves me time and money from bringing it over to the shop every so often. I just need to go if I am modifying or upgrading parts. Value for money indeed.

  3. High torque at low speeds is ideal for trail riding. Already concerned about the technicality of the terrain, I do not have to think much about keeping the RPM at a certain level by revving just to get the right torque and speed.

  4. Very low vibration, so I do not get tired out fast. It is smooth yet powerful enough to take on steep hills and jumps. I could start my ride on 3rd gear and ride mostly on 3rd or 2nd if the terrain is steeper.

  5. The TYE bike comes with a 72-volt, 50-ah battery. Generally, if you were to ride at an average speed of 30 km/h, you could ride for about 4 hours worry-free. The specification says 130 km in range, but even at 100 km, the trail ride is already exhausting and exhilarating.

  6. As it is, TYE is great for exploring the countryside. Though it is an entry-level product, mainly to keep the cost low, it can be upgraded or modified. Parts can be sourced locally by one's favourite mechanic shop, as it is a regular full-size dirt bike. This is very convenient.

  7. The TYE bike can be matched to a 250cc dirt bike; however, I personally feel that it makes a great trail bike rather than a MX track bike. Subject to one's riding style, it can be upgraded for such a feat.

There are other factors, such as swappable batteries, upgraded powertrain kits, etc., in which I shall discuss later.

Overall, it is a lifestyle-changing experience, and one should consider owning one without a doubt.
