Earthrace-2 Project Summary
We are developing an awesome new vessel “EARTHRACE-2” to substantially extend our work in marine conservation. It will target the same areas we work on now, including illegal fishing, wildlife smuggling, scientific research, and supporting Rangers in remote areas.
Some time ago now raised $90k on kickstarter which allowed us to complete the concept design phase. The build budget was then estimated at $10m, and despite our best efforts, we fell well short in raising such funds. We did however get enough support to buy our current ship (M/Y Modoc), and with the support of Schiebel, FLIR and other sponsors, we’ve managed to put together a pretty awesome program that sees us currently supporting Costa Rica (MORE) in a whole range of conservation areas. In many ways we see our current program proving the concept, and in time, getting this new beast built and operational .
Sometimes in life you need to think big. And Earthrace-2 is a monster! Details on this extraordinary vessel are below. It includes some of the kickstarter videos, design details, and a few other tasty morsels. In reality, such a boat cannot be funded selling T-shirts and hoodies. To make this happen will need one or more big hitters to step up to the plate.
